Can't retrieve or delete voicemail

The message indicator lights up on the phone. When you dial *97 it tells you that you have 1 new message. When you press 1 for new messages it goes straight to the menu for deleting the call and other options. When you press 7 to delete the message and hangup the message indicator does not go off.

There is a message in /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default/2001 or whatever the extensions is. It’s not just 1 extension that has the problem. It randomly happens on different ext’s.

The system is running asterisk 1.6.2.16 with freepbx 2.7x

There is a line in the log that says: expected 0 but found 1 message(s) in box with max threshold of 100.

What does that mean??

add the following flag in the

voicemail.conf
[general]
delete=yes

reload the voicemail module and try, it will work.

I am using FreePBX and it will overwrite any manual entries to voicemail.conf. Someone told me this issue is fixed in 1.6.2.18 and I should upgrade to fix it. What is your opinion on that?
