Can't retrieve voicemail

Recently we’ve started having a random problem getting voice mail. The message indicator lights up on the phone. When you dial *97 it tells you that you have 1 new message. When you press 1 for new messages it goes straight to the menu for deleting the call and other options. When you press 7 to delete the message and hangup the message indicator does not go off.

There is a message in /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default/2001 or whatever the extensions is. It’s not just 1 extension that has the problem. It randomly happens on different ext’s.

The system is running asterisk 1.6.2.16 with freepbx 2.8.1.4

The phones are Aastra 9143i’s

Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Maybe a DTMF issue?

I don’t think so because if you send a 2nd voicemail to the same box you can retrieve both of them, business as usual. It only seems to happen when there is 1 voice mail in the box.

hi

I have seen this when you get a zero byte message. not sure why you get zero byte messages but you do sometimes.
after pressing 7 is the message gone ?
i not delete it and see how it goes. also check the permissions of the message thats in there.

Ian

After you press 7 the message is not gone and it’s not zero bytes. You can delete the message manually (linux command line) or wait until a 2nd message comes in and then hear and delete them both.

There is a line in the log that says: expected 0 but found 1 message(s) in box with max threshold of 100.

What does that mean??
