I managed to install Asterisk and Asterisk GUI on clean Debian Lenny server with no problem. Using Asterisk GUI, I was able to connect to Asterisk successfully.
Debian kernel version: 22.214.171.124
Asterisk version: 1.6.2
Asterisk GUI version: 2.0
From security hole stand point, I decided to follow below link and create new use and group so Asterisk can run as none-root user. After completing the steps, I fired up Asterisk and GUI successfully. However, when I tried to log in from GUI, I kept getting an Alert! Pop-up type message when I try to log in.
“The GUI does not have necessary privileges!
Please check the manager permissions for the user!”
Can someone advice or point me to the right direction what file I need to modify or permission I need to set so I can connect to Asterisk through Web GUI? Here is the command I used to change ownership and permission which broke Web GUI.
chown -R asterisk:asterisk /var/lib/asterisk
chown -R asterisk:asterisk /var/log/asterisk
chown -R asterisk:asterisk /var/spool/asterisk
chown -R asterisk:asterisk /var/run/asterisk
chown -R asterisk:asterisk /usr/lib/asterisk
chmod -R u=rwX,g=rX,o= /var/lib/asterisk
chmod -R u=rwX,g=rX,o= /var/log/asterisk
chmod -R u=rwX,g=rX,o= /var/spool/asterisk
chmod -R u=rwX,g=rX,o= /var/run/asterisk
chmod -R u=rwX,g=rX,o= /usr/lib/asterisk
chown -R root:asterisk /etc/asterisk
chmod -R u=rwX,g=rX,o= /etc/asterisk
chmod -R u=rw,g=r,o= /etc/asterisk/*
Any help will be appreciated
