We are looking at using Vicidial primarily because we want a softphone that has a bit more functionality. We have been testing XLite and this works really well, but does not do everything we want. The problem we have is that while Vicidial may have improved a lot, it does seem to need a bit of “tweeking” to make it more user friendly. Ideally, what we wnat is something with all the functionality of Vicidial but with the clean user friendliness of Xlite. I want to apologise to mflorell for saying this as it is obvious that a hell of a lot of work has gone into Vicidial.
Firstly does anyone know if there are any other skins fro Vicidial, or if there is another softphone that has the same functionality, but looks more like Xlite.
Failing that is there anyone who would be interesting in developing Vicidial so it is more like Xlite, and if so can you give me an estimate of costs please?
Lastly we are looking for a VOIP trunking provider for the US that is reliable and stable, can anyone recommend a company that can do this for us?
Oh, one last thing. We currently use Zultys MXie to do this but are moving onto Asterisk and cannot use the MXIE UI with any other system. One really useful thing that it does is binds a softphone to a hard phone. This allows fro easier call parking, transfer, checking availability etc, but still having a hard phone. Is this something that Vicidial can do, and if not how much work would it be to develop that functionality?
VICIDIAL is not a soft phone in any way, it is a call center suite that has an AJAX-based agent web interface.
What exactly are you trying to do?
We are basically looking for a feature rich softphone that is very user friendly. We basically want to have a softphone that has all the functionality of Vicidial, as well as having the ability to be able to bind it to a hard phone. The binding to the hard phone allows the user to use the softphone functionality on the hard phone, like drag and drop call transfer, call parking, check availability etc.
I hope this makes it a bit clearer on what it is we are looking for. I have had a look and the best softphone I can find is the Xlite, but even the eyebeam version does not do everything we want.
Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated.
Have you loked at Flash Operator Panel? It is not a softphone either, but allows for what you want to do.

Thanks for the advice. I have downloaded the software, but as there is no install software I am assuming that it needs to be “compiled”. Is that right?
Also will I have to install this on our server, or will it be installed on the users PCs? If it is on the PCs, will it work with Windows?
I am pretty much a novice with this sort of stuff and had to pay someone to setup our server, so I am not totally sure what to do with teh files. Sorry for being so ignorant, I am learning a lot, but I still have a long way to go I am afraid.
