PBX and SugarCRM

HI

I am interested in step by step to install the Asterisk, UI front end (is it FeePBX?) and SugarCRM. I have sugarcrm installed and working great.

I want to log calls straight from an external caller into the CRM contact in the calls module or somewhere in CRM to say that there is a message from this contact to the user (via an extension).

Is it written in C, C++ or Java++? do I have to compile in VC++?
Do I have to run VM ware? What is the compiler I should use?

I am so confused. PLEASE HELP.

I have windows XP. What does it take to convert into a stable Linux for Asterisk to run?

What Hardware/driver I have to use for

  1. VOIP (first preference)
  2. analog PBX ?

You need to wipe the box and install linux if you want to use Asterisk but vmware is fine for testing…

Although there are ways of running asterisk on a windows box it is highly not adviseable. Your best bet is to install linux and install asterisk on it. As far as a GUI there is no specific GUI for asterisk. Trixbox is a GUI that helps with some asterisk configs but does not cover it all. If you want to really learn asterisk well then do it from scratch and learn ‘the real way’. Also from your last question I asuming that you are asking if you can have a VOIP only asterisk box. The answer is yes. Also if you want you can buy a card that will allow analog lines to come in.

Does it in all kinds of Linux? I am trying to get a good feel of this application just like I got SugarCRM. I want a real solution, is vmware-asterisk a production quality product?

Thanks

VM ware is not really worth it unless you have a real powerfull machine. Also you will run into issues with zaptel. It’s worth just going with a dedicated box.

Nope, if you want “production quality” install it on a dedicated box. If you even thought of installing it on VMware on top of Windows slap yourself now.

I am willing to look into a production box with source code and training. This is for me, not business. I want to learn it and then integrate with Sugar.

I would recomend geting a box localy and playing and then go from there. If you know linux it should not be that hard. Did you get the book: Asterisk: The future of Telephony ?

The time you put into learning the basics of linux navigation will be far less then the time spent learning the navigation on emulation software + the problems that will arise.
