No GUI Privligies After Clean Install

Friends, new install of Asterisk on Ubuntu. Configuration files updated as per my findings online.

When I access “Configuration Engine” http:IP:8088/asterisk/static/config/index.html

I receive

“Alert !” dialog box. “The GUI does not have the necessary privileges. Please check the manager permissions for the user!”

Ideas???

FYI: The Asterisk GUI project has been abandoned for a substantial number of years and is not supported, and may not work at all with things these days.

aah… ok. Any suggestions for alternatives???

FreePBX is a commonly used GUI for Asterisk, and also under the Sangoma umbrella.
