Is Asterisk the right solution for me?

Hi,

I am new to Asterisk but I am quite experienced in Linux and VOIP plus
I have read lots of documents including many postings on this forum before posting this question.

I am going to implement a paid support center with remote agents using Asterisk. Here is the required features:

-No VOIP, No internal phone/desk/agent
-Customers’ calls are routed to remote agents, so there is a mix of %50-%50 inbound-outbound calls
-Autoatendent, IVR
-ACD with different queues for different agent groups
-Login/Logout for the agents
-Agents may need to edit(change) their telephone number
-Customers can select to talk to a specific agent if s/he is available or leave message in his/her voicemail, so each agent has an identification code(extension) in the system which can be reached through IVR by the customers
-prepaid calling card system with different rates for different groups of agents

I want to know if the above feautures are NOW supported and implemented by Asterisk or no. A “YES” or “NO” answer for each feature would be satisfactory. I just dont want to get to a NO answer after try and error.

I am going to buy a A400P04 with 4 FXO bundle to test this app.

Is it the right hardware to buy? (the last question!)

I really appreciate any reply to my question.

Asterisk is the engine…you would need to add third party billing…

You would need to create the whole dail plan.
It does nothing "out of the box"
and by not using VoIP for the extens you will need two pots lines for each call…1 in and 1 out

and as for the agents sign in / sign works for some not for others…

as for edit of info within asterisk again not with asterisk scope need third party GUI

Will be a bit costly. I you want no VOIP at all you may want to look at T1’s/E1’s

Asterisk can handle it. The load will depends on what codecs you use as well as the specs of your box.

For the above there are diffrent pieces of software that can do it but there is nothing that can do it all for you. It will require a lot of custimization but can be done. If you know linux well it should not be a problem.
