What is the difference between the FreePBX and Asterisk? Is FreePBX the new Asterisk version or what?
Asterisk is the PBX system, and FreePBX is a web gui to configure Asterisk. It’s nothing more than a graphical interface. A very nice one too, especially if you are just starting out and want a simple configuration tool.
