It all depends on what you need Asterisk to do for you…
Yes does depend largely on your application of Asterisk, although, I have had wonderful success, With Dell Poweredge 840, 860, and 1950 servers, with Digium cards. They haven’t missed a beat! Use Centos 5 and * 1.4.10 at the moment.
