Asterisk possible w/PSTN/POTS but no VoIP?

Can Asterisk be utilized to manage a standard PSTN land line and POTS phone without VoIP features and consequently w/o a VoIP provider?

It looks to me that the Linksys SPA3102 or Grandstream HT-503 have the capability to interface between eithernet, PSTN and POTS, so I’m thinking one of these with Asterisk could do the job?

So long your asterisk has an FXO interface to the PSTN line, I don’t see why not. All you need is to configure your asterisk to process incoming calls on the FXO trunk to a softphone and/or an FXS port as the extension.
