I have a simple question: how can I upgrade an asterisk 1.4.0-beta2 to the final version without lost any configuration, purchased codec, and other things.
My problem is simple: we have an asterisk server (1.4.0-beta2), and we have some issue on it (random shutdown, mysql connection problem, etc.) and we want to upgrade it to a stable release BUT the guy who have installed this server is gone, so, I must manage this server by myself and I’m totally noob in asterisk.
So, is there a simple way to updrage asterisk from the source ?
asterisk stores its configs in /etc/asterisk and are not overwritten unless you do make samples. codecs should persist through the upgrade, otherwise since its the same machine you should have no trouble reinstalling it…
Hello IronHelix. I was doing a search on upgrades and I’m a couple of month behind on this one. How do you upgrade. Just install say 1.4.1 or ./configuration and then make upgrade and how about the older file can you delete the 1.4.0 from usr/src/ anything you have to do to zaptel?

Just do everything when you installed the first version of Asterisk, without the make samples and configuring it later. So just download the newest version unpack it and install it. Your old configs should remain in tact and everything should work just fine.
