I was wondering if anyone here had any experience they could share concerning the setup of an E&M trunk between an Asterisk box and a Definity using a TN767 circuit pack. I’m about ripping my hair out because I can’t get the two systems to sync up. I have a hunch that I’m dealing with a wiring problem but the wiring plant isn’t mine so I’m being careful not to piss anyone off. The last Asterisk system I set up used two PRIs from AT&T and it was almost too easy to make it work, so I can’t understand why this T1 E&M setup isn’t taking off.

Nevermind, it was a wiring issue. The Definity guy said something about using the same pairs the phone uses (there used to be a digital handset on the drop we’re using to feed the Asterisk box) and that set off an alarm. I checked the drop with a multimeter this morning and found that he was sending pair 1 & 2 on 3 & 6. I crimped myself a cable that would move 3 & 6 over to 1 & 2 and the T1 came right up.
Always check the wiring. I should’ve known better but I didn’t want to upset the phone guy by telling him he was wrong. Of course, I told him what the problem was after I fixed it this morning. We both learned a good lesson.
