TDM400P -> Is this right?

I just ordered a TDM400P from the bay. It came from China and has now been received.

I was under the impression that the FXO/FXS ports on the back of the card fit a regular phone. Is that not correct?

The ports on the back of this card are the size of RJ45 instead of the RJ14. Basically, it will fit a networking cable and not a telephone cable.

Is this right?? If so, how do I connect a fax machine to it?

FXO and FXS ports should be RJ11 (standard phone) jacks so not sure what you ordered\received.

The connections should be RJ11 but they will be FXO or FXS. The ports are not dual function. The function is dictated by the daughter board(s) installed on the main board. If you just purchased a TDM400P it might not have any modules installed.

The TDM01B module is FXO (for phone lines)

The TDM10B module is FXS (for telephone connection)

It did come with 4 modules (2 FXO and 2 FXS).

Here are the pictures of what I got. If you can tell me if I received the right item, I would appreciate it. As mentioned before, the ports are the size of a networking cable though. Is there a converter or did I waste my money?

In addition to the above messages and photos. I just removed the FXS modules and underneath (on the board) it says (A) 400P rev 2.1

Is this the correct board for North American Telecom Systems?

Have you tried to actually put in an RJ11 to see if it works? Sometimes port size an be deceiving just looking at it.

It sure looks like its what you thought you ordered, but it goes to show that sometimes you get what you pay for. Sure the Digium card is a little more expensive but with it you a) support the development of Asterisk, b) get FREE tech support, and c) get something that is guaranteed to work or they will replace it!

Yup… Lesson learned. Next time I will be getting it straight from digium. It is 3 times the price though when you include the modules.

I contacted OpenVox who i found out is the manufacturer of the card. They said that I can plug the RJ11 into the RJ45 port and it will work fine.
