Streaming via sliserver

I need to have a radio as MOH.
I’ve setup the slimserver 6.5 and when connecting via any player all sounds OK.
The problem starts when trying to connect it to Asterisk, I’ve followed the voip-info wiki instractions with the changes needed for Asterisk 1.2 version, and I get a distorted audio as if i’m using the wrong codec or bit rate.
This is my musiconhold record:
[default]
mode=custom
application=/usr/bin/mpg123 -q -s --mono -r 8000 -f 8192 -b 0 localhost:9000/stream.mp3
directory=/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3/

Did anyone had any luck of making it work correctly?

what does the output of ‘top’ look like when you’re streaming ?? have you investigated the alternatives to mpg123 ?

can’t help more as i only use native MOH.

doing top while streaming shows that both slimserver and mpg123 are working.
I just want to be clear, I’m hearing a voice that sounds like a wale singing.
I’ve tried both mpg123 and mpg321 same results.

i’m sure they are working, but are they leaving room for Asterisk ?? how much processor is consumed when you are playing MOH ?

The slimserver 22.5%,
the mpg123 0.9%,
the mplayer of slimserver 2.4%.
It is a Intel® Celeron® CPU 2.40GHz, with 512 MB, a slow one but it is used only for tests so it should be able to do the work.
