Requirements for non-VoIP Asterisk server

I’m planning to run Asterisk between my ISDN connection (NTBA) and my analog telephone. A 933 Mhz PC will act as server (desktop?). Unfortunately, every FAQ I’ve found yet deals with VoIP so currently I’m stuck.

  1. What hardware do I need to buy (ISDN box (NTBA) <-> * / * <-> analog telephone)? I’m unable to buy Diginum cards since I’m outside the USA.
  2. Will Fedora/Gnome slow down * too much on 933Mhz/256MB? What are the alternatives?
  3. Where can I find basic installation/configuration guide for such a system?
