PSTN delay

Is there any way of eliminating or reducing the time it takes the PSTN ringing to hit asterisk?

What happens is that the caller can hear the call start to ring but on the asterisk box it takes a few ring bursts to show up as a Zap event…

the first ring the caller hears (or part of it) is probably their switch setting up the call.
After that, Asterisk won’t generate a Zap event until after the first ring because CallerID info is delivered after the first ring. It waits until it gets the CID chirp before starting the dialplan.

You can turn this off, just disable caller id.

Thanks IronHelix. That did the trick - down to one ring.
