Problem with Agent transfering a queue call

My agents are logging into a queue using AGENTCALLBACK. I have noticed that when an Agent receives a call from the queue and then transfers that call to somebody else the status of the agent still shows as busy. Only when the person terminates the call the agent becomes available again. So I encounter the following scenario:
Agent1 and Agent2 are the only 2 Agents logged into the SALESQUEUE. Agent1 receives a call and then transfers it to Agent2. Another call comes in for the queue but Agent1 shows busy and Agent2 shows available although Agent2 is actually on the call now and Agent1 is really available. So Agent2 keeps hearing the beeps as Asterisk is keep trying to call him.

Any ideas how to resolve this?
