Nokia E65

He all,

I have big problems to register Sip on E65 and seem the problem is the same on many E Nokia.

here is my CLI info on local network:

I have tried as well on a distant network with good configuration and same result: Xlite OK and E65 error.

Any idea ?

PS: sorry for my poor english

:laughing:
Finaly I have found a soft for symbian working on my E65 and let me connect Asterisk IPBX :
fring.com

I have just try it now from a distant wan.

So it seem the Nokia original SIP client have a bug :cry:

There is no bug in Nokia and no error described in your posts.

SIP/2.0 401 Unauthorized
for E65 is not an error ?
I’m sorry but my goal is to connect my E65 to my Asterisk and make call
and I would like to see SIP/2.0 200 OK !

Today I have make test on local lan with fring and my E65 not connect well (I have not take a look on CLI).

from the RFC3261:

This means that your Nokia should re-send it’s REGISTER with the appropriate authorization information.

I suggest you should observe further messages to/from Nokia after server’s 401 response.
I can only speak for the E60. No problem to register with Asterisk or directly with sipgate.de.
It sure ain’t easy to set up though.
I tried a strategy to first learn my way around by registering directly with my VoIP provider, then make Asterisk work.

Thanks for your reply
In fact no problems to register with the SIP provider freephonie.net
it work very fine.

Just a problem with local or remote Asterisk, and I have not solved it yet.

Maybe I’m lazy but I realy enjoy the fring client software, it work very fine
and for SIP account you just need to enter IP, user and password.
With Fring you can setup and use your Twitter, Googletalk Msn, skype and SIP account very easy but unfortunely just one SIP account can be stored on config.

I think as well that using Fring on the mobile need more power from mobile battery and I need to plug charger each night.
The best way is to solve configuration problem with the Nokia SIP client.
In fact no problems to register with the SIP provider freephonie.net it work very fine.
OK, then Asterisk connectivity should work just fine. Here… clearly get local to work before you even think about remote (which possibly will not work, IAX would be the way over SIP)

Perhaps post your SIP.CONF…

My sip extentions and trunk are on Mysql database

[general]
context=sippool
bindaddr=0.0.0.0
srvlookup=yes
defaultexpirey=3600 I try to change but no results
dtmfmode=auto for freephonie.net
disallow=all
allow=alaw
allow=ulaw
allow=gsm
allow=h263
allow=h263p
language=fr
tos=lowdelay
rtcachefriends=yes
nat=yes
#include /etc/asterisk/sip-register/*

realy no idea !

[general] are the default settings. I’ve added the following to sip.conf

[E60]
username=E60
type=friend
secret=passwod
qualify=yes
nat=no
host=dynamic
canreinvite=no
context=internal
mailbox=100@default
vmexten=102
disallow=all
allow=alaw

and the E60 has extension 102 in extensions.conf

exten => 102,1,Macro(stdexten,100,SIP/E60)

(i use the macto stdexten to dial a extension).

It’s been a while but if I remember correctly, it was paramout to set type=friend. Also I’d recommend to restrict to a codec other than GSM to enure reasonable audio quality; the E60 might default to GSM and you don’t want that for VoIP.

No way I can see on developper Nokia forum that this is a bug and nobody is able to connect Asterisk with new Nokia E serie 61/65/70

I just hope Nokia will fix it
because Fring don’t send DTMF code and I can’t check my voice box
nobody is able to connect Asterisk with new Nokia E serie 61/65/70

Well that might be the case with newer phones, of course. Good luck.

Guys, it’s always a good idea to mention the software version you have, in this case - on Nokia. I have E60 with 2.0618.06.05 dated 14-07-06.

And as with other UAs - we should always check the debugs, i.e. observe further messages to/from Nokia after server’s 401 response.
Guys
I’m fine.
it’s always a good idea to mention the software version you have
correct
in this case - on Nokia. I have E60 with 2.0618.06.05 dated 14-07-06.
which is the only version available for download the last time I checked. Which leads me to believe they are really slow if ever coming out with new firware versions, at least for the E60. Yes the E60 does have issues, at least mine, however not related to SIP as far as I can tell, so this forum isn’t the place for these concerns.

A couple more things for OP; did you make sure

  • Public user name (this might have a different tag in another language) is set to sip:yyyyyy@192.168.1.zzz
    where yyyyyy is the SIP context (“E60” in my case) and zzz the IP address of the Asterisk box?
  • Registrar serv. address is sip:192.168.1.zzz

There are a lot of E60s around with 1.x software, just because some people are too lazy to upgrade :wink:
At the same time the newer version 3 exists for E61, E70 and even for E60, but not for the country code/model I have.
Software availability may be checked here europe.nokia.com/A4305060

This is my working exampe:
(Nokia)

  • Public user name — 15@server.dom
  • Use compression — No
  • Registration — “Always on” or “When needed”
  • Use security — No

Proxy server

  • Proxy server address — server.dom
  • Realm — asterisk
  • User name — 15
  • Password — as is
  • Allow loose routing — Yes
  • Transport type — UDP
  • Port — 5060

Registrar server

  • Registrar serv. addr. — server.dom
  • Realm — asterisk
  • User name — 15
  • Password — as is
  • Transport type — UDP
  • Port — 5060

(Asterisk, users.conf)

[15]

fullname = ext15
secret = …
cid_number = 15
context = longdistance
vmsecret =
hasvoicemail = yes
hassip = yes
hasiax = no
host = dynamic
dtmfmode = rfc2833
disallow = all
allow = alaw
allow = ulaw
the newer version 3 exists for E61, E70 and even for E60, but not for the country code/model I have.
Thanks for the hads-up. Same here however; 3.x not available so I’ll stay on 2.x.
