Music on hold volume too loud

Asterisk 1.2.x

musiconhold.conf
[default]
mode=files
directory=/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3/
random=yes

Everything works fantastic, except that the volume is a bit loud. Any way to turn it down just a bit? It seems just a little over driven, slightly distorted. I’d like to clear it up if possible.

Try directory=quietmp3:/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3/
(I think it works on both 1.2 & 1.4)

Thanks! Although it did not work. When I did a “moh reload” I got this error:

Cannot open dir quietmp3:/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 or dir does not exist

You could use SOX to reduce the volume like this;

sox -v 0.5 file.mp3 file.wav

asterisk is born to provide the PBX, so
which has no high and intellignet function to handle the sound and voice.
as like automatically controlling the volume.
and then, manager should prepare and store the retuned sound file using
sox utility or other tools on PC, like cooledit, audition.
