Multiple calls per phone

#1

Hi, we are setting up a new asterisk system and just got a bunch of new Polycom 501’s. We have it set up so that the three calls show up on the screen, however, when two people call me, for example, the second person goes directly to voicemail instead of giving me the oportunity to pick up the call. How can we make this work correctly?

Thanks,
Josh

#2

bump!

#3

Could you post some details about your extensions.conf file so we can see how your configuration addresses the sets?

#4

Do you want the entire extensions.conf or just certain sections?

#5

The parts where you show how the phones are dialed is all that’s necessary.

If you have any globals, or use a macro to dial your stations, that would also be helpful.

#6

Hmmm im just gonna attach the whole thing:

The above section was all I needed.

Ok… see where the line says:

exten => s,6,SetVar(DIALSTATUS=BUSY)

That’s why…

Every time you dial a station, the macro that dials them (called macro-dial) sets a variable that tells the world that you’re currently busy.

If your dialstatus is set to “busy” callers are forwarded to voicemail according to the instructions in macro-exten-vm.

I’m guessing that you’re using Asterisk@Home. I think you can change the voicemail settings so that calls will go to voicemail if unavailable as opposed to busy. Try making that change first.

#8

Hmmm so I tried to comment out that line you mentioned but that didn’t do it - what exactly do I need to change to allow incoming calls to popup on the phone’s screen & allow the person to answer up to 3 calls at a time?

I am comfortable with messing around in the config files.

#9

There’s also an AGI file in the middle of that macro-dial.

You’ll have to poke around in there to find where the system sets your availability status as well.

Look at the code in the dialparties.agi script.
