We run our system on asterisk 1.4 and now I install brand new 1.8 on centOS 7.
I added a user on sip.con but I can not register the user and cli doesn’t even show someone trying to register.
Any help would be much appreciated.
chan_sip is deprecated, and I believe will not build and load, by default, on 18. You should use chan_pjsip, but you can, still force it to build and force it to load.
The files is sip.conf, not sip.con.

Check your /etc/asterisk/modules.conf file.
To build it, you have to select it in make menuconfig, when building Asterisk.
