Latest Software

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,

At present I have 2 Dell r310s running Elastix 2.5 in a lab. I have them connected to NEC SV8100s, IP Office and to each other via SIP , IAX2 trunks and H323. I would like to learn more about Asterisk/Linux in general.

I have the latest software downloaded. Could someone recommend a platform to run the software. Can I use a Dell R310s?

Thank You,
Dave

You can go for a Raspberry Pi … Asterisk is not that resource hungry, except you have a lot of calls one day. I would focus more about the UNIX distribution. Debian 9, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, CentOS 7.8 are good starters because those are used by the Asterisk Team themselves on a daily basis. Yes, a lot of effort was put into Asterisk to ‘run it on any distribution’. However, if you have the choice and for the start, I recommend to stick to one of those three.

Thank you for the information and your time.
