Hi There
How would I install Asterisk on a Linux VPS? I’m new to Asterisk and don’t have that much knowledge of SSH Access to my server.
Any help would be much appreciated

Is this VPS a hosted server?
Do you have root access to that server? if not, you wont be able to install asterisk.
Hi Npereira
I have full root access
Many thanks

If you have access to the CD, then burn the asteriskNow or Trixbox CE to a CD, and install from there.
Log in as root and you should be able to just use a series of apt-get or yum commands depending on what version of Linux your VPS is running.
My server is remote and I’m running debian. Any ideas on what I need to do? I’m not familiar with commands though
…you don’t have any experience with the command line?
No I don’t have any experience of the command line
Many thanks

I’m not going to give you a step-by-step guide on how to install Asterisk on a Debian system. Perhaps you can use Google to find such instructions. I will tell you that the installation is fairly command-line heavy, so you might want to familiarize yourself with it before you attempt a moderately complex installation such as Asterisk.
