IAX phone?

Haven’t started using * yet but hope to soon! Do the phones communicate to the server using IAX? If not doesn’t this make it hard to install a phone in a remote office over the internet? I’m thinking of someone who wants an extension in their home and they have some type of broadband with the usual nat/dynamic ip address.

an IAX UA( soft or hardphone) is going to be a lot easier to configure through NAT … but they aren’t as common as SIP. not that SIP is hard to setup as long as you have a decent firewall that allows port-forwarding.

  1. Could you give some examples of IAX soft and hard phones?
  2. Isn’t dynamic IP address going to cause problems? Will they
have to use one of those dynamic dns services?
