Hi,

I’m completely new to Asterisk, although I am familiar with LInux and used to write software a long time ago (Fortran, C, assembly language). I need to get up to speed on Asterisk, and there is plenty of information available here, but is all software. Are there any guides or information as to what hardware I need to consider to build my own PBX using SIP and Asterisk? I’m pretty sure I’m going to need such things as telephony cards, but I don’t know anything about them. Any help would be appreciated.

Normal retail PCs will run low volume pure VoIP systems. For more details see asteriskdocs.org/

You will not get sizing for your specification, only what works for the responder.
