Digium AA50 + Polycom IP 601 Setup

Hello everyone,

I’m setting up a small phone system with 3-4 users. It consists of a Digium AA50 and some Polycom IP601 hard phones. I’ve set up the AA50, but I’m having trouble getting the hard phones to communicate with it. I think the cause is a lack of knowledge and documentation. I haven’t been able to find any documentation on how to get the IP 601 working with Asterisk. Does anyone know of any documentation or have any advice?

Any help or comments anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Daniel

You need to edit the users.cfg file from either the GUI or through an SSH session.

Locate the extension the user is assigned, and look for the “host” tag, type in the phones IP address here and save the file. You should be good to go (assuming you have set the phone up correctly)

If you need help setting the phone up, I can help you with that. I’m not too thrilled about the Polycoms (voice quality is great though), but setup is stupid.

I found the solution, and it is so silly that I’m kind of embarrassed to admit it.

When I got my digium unit, I immediately turned off it’s DHCP and hooked it up to my current network. The phones weren’t receiving the BootROM, and there for provisioning wasn’t working. After I reset the settings everything worked like a charm.

Thanks for the help,

Daniel
