Connect DID using TDM2400P

Hi all,

I am wondering what module should be used to connect DID with my TDM2400P? According to what I know, it should use FXO module to connect the POTS.

However, when the telco technician try to connect the DID to my Asterisk box, he stated that my Asterisk box should be able to have some voltage to be given out in order to connect the DID. He also stated in order to test the DID interface, it should be able to hear some dial tone when an analog phone is attached to it.

From some of the info. on the internet, the dial tone is produced from an FXS module to signal the analog phone attached to it.

Therefore, it confused me which module should be used in my TDM card to connect the DID.

FXS is what you would plug any STANDARD TWO WIRE home phone into

Can you please explain me how to configure DIDs with Asterisk PBX.
What are the hardware requirements for 100 DID nos I need ?

DID’s in the VOIP are just phone number routed to your account
read the links above

The setup is per the provider of your DID’s they all have differrent ways
Some are trunks some are just frowarding ID to an IP address

Some are setup as USERS
some setup as peers

There is NO ONE way to do it.

Hi bubba,

I am in Hong Kong, and just got an reply from my friend that the DID service provided by local telco. is analog using E&M wink signal, which is an old-fashion way and is rarely be used in anywhere other than HK.

He has pointed me to find some analog E&M card (which is not provided by Digium) or some DID gateway.

As I have bought a TDM2400p card and want to connect those analog E&M DID to my Asterisk box, any advices ??
