Would it be possible to use asterisk with Shaw’s digital phone service?
shaw is a cable tv provider, yes?
If so, then almost certainly not. Cable TV providers usually give you an integrated modem/ATA, which is completely locked. No SIP cridentials are provided. Besides, the ATA usually uses PacketCable, which as I recall is a variant of MGCP.
You could however give Asterisk an FXO port and plug that into whatever gadget Shaw gives you, but this gives you the same thing as a normal phone line… you would be better off with a BYOD provider.
