I’m in the process of building my own VoIP platform, and I’m revamping the voicemail sounds because I can’t stand the default ones. No offence
when I dial the voicemail extension it functions as it should but there is a break between each file that makes choosing options way too slow. For example it would say “press 1. for. new. messages”. That’s how freepbx and all other asterisk systems are, but I want to fix that. Any ideas?
you can write your own dial plan
The Mini-voicemail subsystem may be to your liking.

You may want to use the Pat Fleet sounds for Asterisk instead. The default Allison Smith ones are (as you found) horrible.
Well, I’ve made my own that are much better, but it plays them back in the same speed as the Allison recordings, so it’s just as bad.
