Is it possible to configure an Asterisk Linux server unsing a simple 56k modem instead of having to buy a T1/E1 family cards to receive and give calls , send and receive faxes?

Go to eBay and do a search for “Digium FXO X100P”, you will be able to buy a modem that does work with Astersk for less than $15.
A X100P clone doesn not support E1/T1.
I didn’t think he wanted 24 channels or more, he just wants to “give calls, send and receive faxes”.

First choice would be Digium TDM400 family which I believe is less expensive than E1/T1 equipment, so we might be right there… Than there’s the X100P clones.
Yeah, but the man said he wanted to use a simple 56k modem… Just kidding.
However, I do use those TDM400 cards, and you’re right, they are great!!!
