1.6 vs 1.4 stability

Hey,

I am looking at upgrading our Asterisk system (currently 1.2.x) in the near future, and the biggest factor for me is stability in choosing which version I upgrade to. I refrained from installing 1.4 when I originally built the server precisely for this (and 1.2 has been pretty solid for us most of the time).

Presumably 1.4, being a maturer release is regarded as stabler, but does anyone have any real-world experience with 1.6 and can testify to its stability?

Hi

For both of these upgrades you need to check release note,

it will be safer to go to 1.4 if you are using the Manger interface, or macros.
in 1.6 the have changed in a major way.

I would build on a lab system first to check all is working OK

That’s a great suggestion and exactly what I am doing. We do use Flash Operator Panel, which I know doesn’t have a 1.6 compatible release yet, so we may have to stick with 1.4, unless there is something comparable to FOP that does support it.

I use a lot of macros in 1.4.x

Where can I read (documentation) about the changes?
