After I installed Asterisk, I tried to apt-get install zaptel

Setting up zaptel (1.2.11.dfsg-1) …
Zaptel telephony kernel driver: FATAL: Module ztdummy not found.
Notice: Configuration file is /etc/zaptel.conf
line 0: Unable to open master device ‘/dev/zap/ctl’

That’s the error I get.

What is Zaptel for anyway? All i’m trying to do is try and get Asterisk installed and then Freepbx.

First things first.

Install zaptel then Asterisk.

Zaptel provides support for zapata tdm cards and ztdummy which is used for timing, Its required for meetme amoungst other apps.
