Im new to Asterisks, What OS is recommened, and what type of Hardware is recommened? Thank you
Asterisk will run happily on a 2.4 Linux kernel, but it is recommended with any distro that runs a 2.6 kernel or better. Asterisk will even run no OSX/BSD, although without hardware support today.
For a newbie, it is best to pick up this book:

And then use either Redhat4 or FC4. I personally run on SuSE, but I just like the green lizard logo (and YaST) better than the ugly red fedora…
