Using call files to make calls

I’m using call files and placing these into the /var/spool/asterisk/outgoing. This is working but it takes four seconds for asterisk to wake up to the fact theres a new file in there and call the phone.

Can I adjust the time that asterisk takes to check this outgoing directory for call files to be more frequent?

i have one app that uses call files and it’s instant. there’s not a difference between the timestamp on the files and the time on the Asterisk server is there ? anything “in the future” will be left until then … which will cause this.
