Upgrade Asterisk 1.4 to 1.8 (via yum)

Hi,

I installed Asterisk 1.4 via yum on CentOS 5.4 and I would like to update it to 1.8 via yum. Is this possible? I cannot find the instructions anywhere…

You need to remove the asterisk 1.4 and install the 1.8. this is the procedure.

No. You need to read the upgrade instructions from the source distribution. Although they might be in the package, you really need to review them before installing it.

I guess I better stick with 1.4 for the time being then. I’ll do a clean install / reconfiguration of Asterisk 1.8 in a holiday.
