Unstable ASTERISK peer connection to GSM Gateway

Hi,

We noticed that our ASTERISK Server peer connection to GSM Gateways were unstable. It keeps becoming unreachable intermittently. When we tried to reduce the channels at the GSM Gateways from 28 to 10, the peer connection becomes stable. Is there a way to know and control the calls per second (CPS) of ASTERISK? It looks like the GSM Gateways cannot handle the number of calls coming from the ASTERISK Server.

@david551 At first, I wasn’t sure what you’re suggesting. But found a solution after giving it a little thought. By setting the GROUP_COUNT() resource as ${EPOCH}, I can count the calls placed in the current second. From there, it’s a simple regular expression to determine if the number of calls exceeds the target calling rate. Sending calls that exceed the target to another context to wait for a fraction of a second, before trying again. Otherwise, the call continues and will Dial() the p…

This example should get you going. Two things I would change, 1- The obvious chan_sip. 2. Instead of going to the other context, I’d rather do it all in one with a WhileLoop
