Understanding incoming calls using one POTS line

We’re really new to this and trying to think through possible configurations for our virtual office.

Is it possible to have one POTS phone line fed into the asterisk server (via ip phone gateway or whatever) that can handle multiple incoming calls. Is there a way that asterisk can free up the one incoming POTS line once the call is answered? Thx.

Very simple answer. NO.

1 alog line means 1 call.
2 lines mean 2 calls
