Transfering a call goes straight to voice mail?

I am running Asterisk 1.6 on ubuntu server.

Everything is working great, except for when we try to transfer an incoming phone calling say from extension 104 to 109 it goes STRAIGHT to voice mail. Has anyone else experienced this problem?!? Know where to even start looking a solution would be?!

pretty new at this so I’m sure people are going to respond with 500 more questions that I should have answered that I’ll have to lookup the questions to…

You are talking about functions that are provided by a specific dialplan, rather than by the core of Asterisk, so you need to tell us what that specific dialplan is. If it is a third party one, it may have its own support channels. If it is not freely downloadable, you will need to provide copies of the relevant parts.
