tdm2400 voltage issue maybe

I have a tdm2400 inside of a dell poweredge 850, I believe I may have a bad card, every time i pick up the phone it kills asterisk. Meaning when i uncradle the phone to see if there is dial tone asterisk crashes. I am not trying to make a call, or answer a call, just see if the d#$n thing is up.

Upgrade Zaptel and Asterisk. This maybe more dificult since you are using Trixbox.

I did that yeasterday, didn’t change a thing. I believe it may have something to do w/these cards using so much energy. I am also getting a power failed on module x-whatever.

I would suggest calling Digium support.

I had an issue with my TDM400. I know these are different cards but the technology may be similar, I had originally 1 FXS and 1 FXO module that worked great, i ordered in 2 new FXS modules and the new ones wouldnt come up, however the old modules still did.

I measures 11.8 volts on the 12 volt line and 5.0 volts on the 5 volt line of the secondary connector going to the TDM400 card. I placed the card into another machine where i had 12.1 volts and 4.9 volts on the power supply and all modules came up.

I replaced the power supply on the original machine with the second power supply and all modules are up and working fine. im wondering if some component changed in the year I had my first modules till now causing issues with power… I certainly wouldnt think .2 volts on the 12 should knock a module down… but maybe they are just that sensitive.

when you go off hook on a handset connected to an FXS module you are only pulling 35milliamps max…
