Sound card for Music on Hold

I need information regarding the use of Sound Cards in Asterisk.

I have several questions but perhaps we could start with this:

Can an audio stream from a sound card be used as a source for Music on Hold?

First let me say I have not try this method yet.

You could try darkice which is a sound card to icecast or shoutcast (streaming audio) feed. Then just set-up your music-on-hold to catch the streaming audio.
