I am starting to work with Asterisk here at work. I get the chance to troubleshoot wireless and fixed sip phones and iax trunks at times. I currently have a phone not associating. sip show peers confirms this. I have run sip debug, to look for the packets from the particular IP/username, but don’t see any. This is the right command, yes?
Yes, sip debug should show you registration attempts. (Although you’ll not see packets per se.) If none, that suggests networking problem: connectivity, firewall, port range, etc.

valley, tnx for that. I should have noted that other devices show up fine, Network is not the issue. The phone was getting an “ad-hoc” error at one time, but apparently isn’t today. The client is remote, so I don’t have the luxury of looking at it directly.

can I isolate the data flow from sip debug to only display registration traffic? I cannot see a command in help for this.
