Setting outbound caller-id w/*@Home & BV

I’m using Broadvoice as my SIP provider on an * @ Home setup. I’ve heard you can set the outbound callerid to whatever you want yet it doesn’t appear to take effect. I’ve tried setting it in the extensions setup in AMP as well as in the trunk setup in AMP.

Is it possible to do this without manually editing the config files? (i.e. in amp?)

I’m no expert on this, but I seriously doubt you can change it. It would negate the use of caller id. Anyone could pretend to be anyone and make prank phone calls. Not a good idea.

Um, actually caller-id is “spoofable” and can relatively easily be done, there are numerous topics on this. I’m curious, however, if it can be done through AMP and with Broadvoice. My understanding is broadvoice will take the caller id information you pass to them, it just doesn’t seem to be working for me.

Well if broadvoice will except it you can set it in the extensions.conf file but I dont use @home or amp so I have no Idea how to do it with them.

Here is how I do it on my iax connection

exten => _NXXNXXXXXX,1,SetCallerID(“name” )
exten => _NXXNXXXXXX,2,Dial(IAX2/connection/${EXTEN})

name the name you want diplayed
xxxxxxx the number you want diplayed
