using trixbox - asterisk-1.2, libpri-1.2, zaptel-1.2
I am attempting to setup a digium te212p card with one port connected to an AT&T pri line and the other port connected to a legacy pbx running inter-tel axxess system. The AT&T pri line is setup and functioning properly (light is green on port 1 and I can send and receive calls), but regardless of configuration the asterisk box won’t communicate with the inter-tel system (asterisk - yellow alarm and blinking red light, inter-tel - blinking yellow light).
The only time that I can get a green light and yellow alarm cleared on the digium card is if I change the framing from esf to d4, but even if I change the inter-tel system to use the same framing and coding the inter-tel system still blinks its yellow alarm (even if I pull the card and reset it).
Both cards have been tested using various T1 and PRI configurations to no avail. I have also tried using the first port on the digium card with the inter-tel system, since I know it is working properly.
If anyone has any experience getting an asterisk system to communicate with an inter-tel axxess system I would appreciate any advice on how to go about doing it. Below you’ll find my zaptel.conf and zapata.conf file.
I’ve tried changing the timing on both the asterisk and inter-tel, but I end up with the same result. On the configuration file I posted the inter-tel system was acting as the master timing source, but I have also tried having asterisk as the master and the inter-tel as the slave.
I would try using a different switch type on the span going to inter-tel. I would try national. And also make sure you have one end as the network (pri_net) and other as the cpe (pri_cpe) for the signaling. Then if your line coding and framing are the same on both ends, it should come up.
I have tried changing the switch type to national to no effect (I tried a few others as well), but I will look into changing around pri_net and pri_cpe on both system.
One or the the system has to be CPE and one NET or TE and NT . Then to connect between them you “may”/“will” need a ISDN crossover cable. (This is not the same as an ethernet one, As some unnamed card supplier will tell you it is)
It will be easier to set the * as net that the intertel.
If this is still causing problems enable entence pri debugging and see whats going on.
Just an update in case anyone else comes across this thread with a similiar issue.
The problem I had has been resolved. The version of Inter-tel Axxess that I have (4.x) will not work. In order to get the two communicating you have to upgrade to 5.x., which has a “private network” option.
I have connected several different PBXs to the Intertel, same version as what you have… At a minimum, basic calls…Even a CCM from Cisco thru an MGCP gateway…
All you are doing is emulating a PSTN … One side Must be set for ISDN network & the other is User… I don’t believe that the Intertel can do Network emulation, probably the glitch…I doubt if the Asterisk intrfaces can do it either, so you need to find an interface that can do that… Maybe a Cisco router set up as a GW from the Asterisk… I’m sure there are other solutions for the problem
