Regarding DAHDI drivers

can any one tell about what is DAHDI whether I can install DAHDI drivers in pstn.please reply

What is DAHDI?

DAHDI (Digium/Asterisk Hardware Device Interface) is the open source device interface technology used to control Digium and other legacy telephony interface cards.

DAHDI Linux / DAHDI Tools

DAHDI Linux is the open source device driver framework used to interface Asterisk with telephony hardware. DAHDI Tools is a package of utilities for managing and monitoring DAHDI devices. The download on this page provides a combined package of the latest DAHDI Linux with the latest DAHDI Tools.

Download DAHDI

I’m having trouble understanding the second part of your question.

You install DAHDI on the PC running Asterisk. With modern versions of Asterisk, you only need DAHDI if you have PCI telephony cards (I’m not sure about USB ones).

Generally, though, if you need to ask this question, you have not read the documentation properly. In particular, you probably need to go to asteriskdocs.org/

Thanks for your reply.I have one more questions whether all pstn phones support DAHDI drivers.please reply

Please read the documentation. DAHDI drivers are for the line cards, not the phones.
