I own a quick service restaurant and want to record incoming conversations, for coaching purposes, between my customer service reps and customers who call in take-out orders. Is Asterisk overkill to get only this one feature? Also, will Asterisk do this?
Would be a snap to do with asterisk… Look at Freepbx as a supplement for a quick setup.

How is Freepbx different than Asterisk? Or is it an add on?
Freepbx is GUI which “writes out the dail plan”
it makes setting up asterisk exten so on
also if you use freepbx you get ring groups / easy to setup IVR que’s and follow me
You could have a menu playing instead off music on hold
with IVR maybe I place my order by phone, and never speak to real person (until the person calls me back to confirm my order).
