Problem with FXO / dahdi channel

hi folks, my Asterisk server has two AEX410 cards, the first one works fine (all 4 ports) but the second one has port #2 turned off. I need to say that this Asterisk was inherited, so the person before me was who installed and configured. When I did check config., the lines referring to that channel were commented in /etc/dahdi/system.conf, chan_dahdi.conf and dahdi-chanels.conf files, so I uncommented. At the end I issued CLI>reload chan_dahdi.so but when I check dahdi channels in CLI, it still doesn’t shows up:

CLI> dahdi show channels

channel in question is #36…can anybody help me please to find out what’s happening ??? am I missing something here ??
thanks.

Support for hardware cards need to be obtained from the vendor. Although Digium fund this forum, they do not provide commercial support through it.

I understand that you mention the vendor thinking in a hardware problem, but I’m looking for help in here with the configuration…maybe I need to look in some other file else to enable that channel…???
thanks.

Did you reload also DAHDI service from linux shell? Also try in the linux shell the command to check which channels are configured:

lsdahdi

thanks for your answer @navaismo, I did what you suggested and the result is this:

[root@aster gaspar]# lsdahdi

note that channel 36 is unknown…, beyond that, I don’t know how to read that output. Besides, I also reloaded the service and the result was:

[root@aster init.d]# service dahdi reload
Rerunning dahdi_cfg: DAHDI_CHANCONFIG failed on channel 36: Invalid argument (22)
Selected signaling not supported
Possible causes:
FXS signaling is being used on a FXS interface (use a FXO signaling variant)
RBS signaling is being used on a E1 CCS span
Signaling is being assigned to channel 16 of an E1 CAS span

any ideas ???

thanks.

thanks.

backup all your config files. Then run dahdi_scan -vvvvv and paste the output could be that the port is not a FXO or somehow is damaged. But first run the dahdi_scan command.

sorry for the late replay my friend, here’s the output:

thanks!

Seems like there is no module installed in that Card or the module is damaged or the port is damaged. Check the card by opening the server, if there is a module try swapping with the next one and check.

ok I’ll try that, but first I wanted to check if could it be a configuration problem…

Thanks a lot!!

quick question: server still has an empty pci slot, can I add another pci card with 8 FXO ports ??? I mean, is there any limit for FXO ports in Asterisk ???

thanks.

You can add as many cards as will fit in your server.

Excellent!!

thanks my friend.
