Problem with call pickup

Hello please help me with configuring pickuping on Asterisk. I set callgroup and pickupgroup for two extensions and enabled Asterisk General Call Pickup in Feature Codes in elastix. The value of General Call Pickup is default *8. But it doesnt work: when I dial * the phone answers with a busy tone. So I cant dial *8 either. What the problem could be?

This sounds like it may be a dialplan issue on the endpoint itself, I would suggest checking how your endpoint is configured.

Everything in this list from the OS to Elastix/FreePBX to Asterisk is EOL and unsupported. Since Elastix/FreePBX is what is handling the configuration of the Call Pickup and In-Call Features it’s probably a bug from those older versions that was addressed in newer version. Well newer versions of FreePBX at least, not sure the status of Elastix community form it is in now since they got bought out by 3CX.

Dunno about upgrading mys software, maybe would try.

The Asterisk CLI (or log files, or SIP debug) should show you if the *8 attempt actually makes it from the endpoint to the PBX.

Check the phone’s dial pattern and that is either has a catch all or allows * or any dial patterns you want to use.
