Overriding ring tones

I want to change the ringing tone when I make VOIP calls to the PSTN, to something in line with UK ringtones and announcements.

Is there a way to detect when the dialled line starts ringing and suppress the ring tones from the carrier and use my own, especially the ringing tone, the engaged tone, and the busy tone?

I am interested in this question as well

Hi Yes,

This is a real issue in the UK and Ireland folks so any help would be appreciated.

It seems by default the switch gives the US tones which are

Ringing Tone: brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr i.e. one long tone
Busy Tone: beep beep beep i.e. a series of sharp tones

UK/Ireland tones need to be as follows:

Ringing Tone: brrrrrrrr brrrrrr i.e. two shorter tones
Busy tone: beeeeeep beeeeeeep i.e. longer, deeper beeps

Thanks!
Darren

i’m in the UK, but i’ve not paid much attention really to my ringtones … they never appeared to be “wrong”.

do you have your indications.conf set correctly ?

Bacon buttie

I’m an idiot, you’re a genius
