Newbie question - ring tones / cadences

Forgive me guru’s for I’m a newbie. Currently have Asterisk 1.8.22.0 running, no concerns there. All is well, except I’d prefer to have European sounding tones instead of the North American/US ones I’ve got.

My indications.conf file is set the way I want it (using UK tones for now), and I’ve restarted Asterisk - yet I’m still hearing the US/NA tones. Would you say that these tones being generated by the softphone software, or by Asterisk somewhere else other than indications.conf?

Which channel technology. (Most VoIP channel technologies only send a ringing indication to the phone and the phone determines the cadence.)
