Number one item in my wish list

IMHO ASterisk developers should make every effort to prevent the Asterisk user and administrator from having to be root/superuser on the host system.

Just like Oracle and so many other software packages, the root permissions should only be needed for installing the software, not for day-to-day operations.

I take this opportunity to congratulate and thank all developers and people involved. Asterisk really fills a need and with it, you folks got more than a hit: it was a grand slam.

asterisk already has this ability. Go read the make file :slight_smile:

…or read the man page and look for the options for setting user and group ID. Just make sure to check the permissions for the /dev/zap interfaces.
